One of Nitro Origin's and Gen "The Urobutcher" Urobuchi best short visual novels. Heavily inspired by H.P. Lovecraft, Saya no Uta is one of my all time favourite Lovecraftian Horror Romance visual novels. It's interesting to see the story through the eyes of someone who is insane and while he sees all other humans as lovecraftian monstrosities, he views the actual lovecraftian monstrosity as a cute loli. Play as Fuminori as he tries to find out the truth of Saya, all the while loving her in a weirdly sweet relationship, emphasis on the weird, and suffering form feeling everything as an eldritch location. Will Fuminori be freed from his insane world, will he be found out for all the horrific things he and Saya do while under insanity, or will he and Saya stay together and start a loving family? This VN is something to see for yourself, and avoid spoilers as best you can. Also whatever you do, don't read the abomination that is the American comics, which are scarier than Saya herself.

Maybe I was expecting too much after having everyone tell me how much of a classic this is, but appart from the interesting art direction and an admittedly cool true ending, the game's 'shocking horror' seems pretty uninspired and revolves mostly about women being raped. Interesting story setup but uninspired horror. Excellent soundtrack, though.

very beautiful game. at times it felt like a shallow monsterfucking lolicon's gorekink fantasy but apart from that I really liked it

It was an interesting idea, but I didn't really ever get that invested. Lots of other folks seem to really like it, but it wasn't for me. Still, it did genuinely creep me out a few times, so that's worth at least 3 stars
