The Shell aka Kara no Shoujo is my favorite visual novel series. These are a must read for any fans of murder and mystery, or just fans of plain old gore and brutality. These games are beautifully written and drawn, and are thrilling from start to finish.

While not ground-breaking in any regard, this little detective novel and it's sequel offer you a pretty authentic depiction of past Japan with a slightly compelling and interesting crime story. Worth a playthrough.

I've finished the first game before buying, and I thought this was a normal VN with multiple endings. Suffice to say I was wrong and I got the "BEST" ending on my first playthrough. It still haunts my dream sometimes. 10/5.
